Stacking Horses

What a fussy time of year, too busy, fall coming, summer running out, my grant running out, job search underway, and do I really want a job?

My friend Welwyn says "be content."

I tell her: "it's hard to be content when you don't know what you want."

Then today I read that Suzuki Roshi says, about questioning your life, your purpose: "It's like putting a horse on top of another horse, and trying to ride. Riding a horse is hard. Why add another horse? Then it's impossible."

I will stop agonizing about life and just live, just live, just live.

I’ve decided, though: I want to be the person who names the paint colours. Ancho, Columbine, Pale Naples, Sea Glass, First Crocus, Sunflower, Basil Bouquet, and (new today!) Bottecelli. And that’s just the part of the house we’re done with.

Most people don’t know what they really want.

a) do what you have to while
b) playing with options of what you think you might want
and
c) making sure you maintain a net happiness over not-so happiness. (cause life has both you know)
