Oooo, a little grant

Good news in the mail today: a small grant recommendation from the OAC Writers' Reserve program for Biblical Voices. Still waiting on word from the grant that was solicited, and two additional WR grants still outstanding. But today's money should buy me a couple of months.

I wish they could start tomorrow -- I'm tired. I'm forgotten how tricky it is to fit writing in around a nine-to-five day. Only a week on this temp assignment and I'm a frazzled. The plan at the moment is to work through March (or however long the assignment lasts) and then take April and May to get back to full-time writing.

It's not a very good plan, as I have a big April 1st deadline for the Works-in-Progress grant program and no idea how I'll meet it. I have to submit a thirty-page section of a single manuscript, 80% unpublished. While I could easily pull together three ten-page sections of three different manuscripts, combining two or more and making them seem cohesive is a tricky business. Do Biblical Voices go with devotionals? Or with the Lives of the Saints? Does Too Strong To Stop go with anything else? The frazzled mind frazzles further.

The talk tonight went well, though it ran a little long. Looking forward to doing it as a workshop in May -- a bit more leisurely, a chance to get down and dirty with things.

Now the frazzled mind goes to bed.

Congratulations on the grant! You’ll be supporting yourself as a poet again in no time. I am so happy for you.
