Blank Pages

Okay, I know I've become punctilious and fussy about Ghost Maps, but -- remember the moaning I did about having the section headings above the first poems in the section? Good news! Wolsak and Wynn are adding a signature to the book, bringing it to 96 pages. I'm happy about that because it means the section headings will get their own pages. I think it improves the flow of the book -- underscoring, again, the importance of scored and blank spaces in reading.

I did have to cut three poems, two I wanted to cut regardless of length issues -- they weren't up to snuff -- and one I'm nostalgic for, but don't mourn. The three are all from sections 5 and 6, which have the tendency to trail off. Perhaps an improvement there?

I'm told this is the last change -- indeed, there isn't even time for me to sign off another set of proofs. The book is going to press as soon as the proofreaders get done with it.

Did I mention I love the font? And the stock? And my publisher? Did I mention I have a book coming out?

Great news! You’re right, those spaces were needed.

Which were the three poems?

Do you know when you’ll have the first printed copy? (You will get advance copies, right?) —P

“Scour,” “The Shadow Box,” and “Graft”

Should be with me the first week in September. Advance copies but not much.
