(so the heart in her indigo)

as the sea holds the water
so the Lord holds the earth

it is his temple
and the gate of his temple

it is his joy
and the font of his joy

as the world waits for dawn
so the heart in her indigo

so the heart in her bride-dress
longing and listening

I am awake, Lord
let something start singing

Habukkuk, Chapters 1 & 2

____________________

This started from the opening call of the Office this morning, The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him. (Habakkuk 2:20) The theology is a bit dodgy -- which way around should that opening analogy really go? -- and there's something off about the the beat in the last three verses -- I ran out of anapests. But I do think there's something here.
