not really about the weather

Watching CBS that comes in over the border. The cold is too much even for Buffalonians (Buffalingians? Buffali?) and things are closing, announcements in the crawler at the bottom of the screen. The first thing I see is Our Lady of Hope Cancelled.

The walk home from the hospital is stunningly beautiful. The sun has hard spikes. The snow squeaks and glitters. I've got "the most painful condition known to medical science," it doesn't seem to mean anything. It's not even life-threatening, not even a battle. Just very cold.
