Untitled Psalm

Early warmth opens tender corn, then
a green storm, hard frost, snow

like manna in the grass folds

You, covering new peonies, do you
understand what this means

To throw prayer like an old sheet
across four hundred acres

Who is like you, Lord of frost
and silence
