Thunder Update

Good news: the editing is down the the stage where we're negotiating over capitalization in the poem titles. Maria, my editor, says when she sees caps in titles she thinks she's in Germany. (And since she lived through the occupation of Holland, she thinks that's a Bad Thing.)

Bad News: (and this must be the sort of thing that happens only to poets) the book is too short. It just came back from mock-up at 73 pages. It needs to be 80 (or 88, or 96) for contractual reasons. A problem.

Also an excitement. I wasn't quite ready to let go of this book. I never got the *(&)@ Eve poem I wanted, for one thing. For another, I haven't really started my next book of poetry yet. I feel as if my writing world, and possibly the world generally, will end when I'm done with this one. I know it's not true, but it's still hard.

We are now leaning towards a launch on Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday), March 20th. Which gives us about a month to figure out what to do about those 7 pages.
