little lit biz things

Bits of literary goodness came my way this week: first, a letter letting me know that my chapbook was a finalist in the (get this) 2002 Acorn-Rukeyser Chapbook Competition, which is evidentally moving along at last. The chapbook in question is a rather old draft of Bridge of Birds, that I'm no longer thrilled with, but it's still good news. And second, an out-of-the-blue note from a publisher looking for submissions for a line of chapbooks, postcards, and broadsheets. They seem to be a swell publisher, too, so I will consider it. Postcard poem nominations, anyone?

I haven't submitted anything to a literary magazine in a long time, my personal life having been, well, full. But I'm thinking about doing so now, so I the literary impulse must be returning. "Thaw" is publishable, and so is "Sign Langauge," I think. I'll have to look through my notebooks and see what I'm forgetting.

Hey wow! It’s good to hear that the creative writing bug has found you again, however briefly. Good luck on the new submissions!

How short (long) would a postcard poem be? Would it depend on the size of your handwriting?
